Accountant & Finance Associate

 

Career Description

To assist with ARS’s day-to-day accounting including but not limited to, month-end reporting, annual audit, day-to-day payments to vendors, internal reporting, budgeting and forecasting, monthly reconciliations and system improvement.

To play a key role in maintaining efficient and optimal financial operations of an organization. They advise companies on ways to minimize expenses, maximize profits and oversee complex financial and accounting processes to ensure the future success and growth of a company.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance

  • Part qualified ACCA/CIMA/CA with at least 2 years’ work experience

  • Strong analytical skills and detail orientated

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Strong desire for system improvement

  • Advanced PC skills: PeachTree accounting software, Microsoft word and Excel, adaptable with learning new systems

  • Self-starter who can work effectively with minimal supervision

  • Able to multitask and work to deadlines

  • Knowledge of accounting software and reporting tools

  • Knowledge of Macros in Excel

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Day to day accounting

  • Ad hoc reports to internal users as requested

  • Responding to all internal and external queries within 24 hours

  • Approve day-to-day payments and manage cash flow

  • Collecting Accounts Receivables

Monthly accounting

  • Reconciling and preparing balance sheet accounts and Income statements

  • Perform varied analysis activities that require evaluation, originality and ingenuity in solving problems or making decisions

  • Preparing month end journals including working with ARS HR for payroll, liaising with independent accounting firms

  • Prepare monthly reporting packages that provide a thorough insight into the key areas of the business to help management make more informed decisions

  • Working with ARS internal stakeholders for forecasting

Quarterly accounting

  • Preparing papers for management committees/board

  • Preparation and reconciliation of international sales documents and shipments.

  • Balance sheet reviews/audit prep

Annual accounting

  • Be a strong contributor for the co-ordination of the yearly audits for ARS including preparation of audit schedules and reconciling full trial balance

  • Preparation of annual budgeting including liaising with internal stakeholders to collect information

Other

  • Develop a broad understanding of the work carried out at ARS to help the company with financial strategy and growth (preparing 3-year strategy plans)

  • Regular interaction with ARS management and staff and business support (banks, auditors, tax advisors)

  • Participate in initiatives to improve processes and create efficiencies

  • System implementation (build transparent reporting and dashboards for non-accounting staff including training)

  • Ad Hoc analysis as required by the business/board
